Hey there!
As we mentioned in the previous newsletter, we are changing our Substack channel a bit (you can read about all the changes here), and here is the first monthly newsletter—this time we are bringing our 8 favorite analog tools that we use most often at work:
Pens: Most of the time we use the Pilot G2 pen (in blue and black) for regular writing, we use the Diplomat Traveler fountain pen for books and work journals. And when we are in the mood for calligraphy, we use the Pilot Parallel pen.
Pencils: We don't have a preferred brand, as they mostly come to us as gifts and are usually enough for our work. For example, we now use these.
Colored Pencils: For crayons, wax crayons, etc. we especially like the brand KOH-I-NOOR.
Markers: We like ones that can be used on any material and just work. Sharpies are by far our favorite. We drew with it on T-shirts, wood, paper etc. and the result was always great.
Notebooks: For diaries, Remini notebooks work best for us, but for regular notes we most often use A6 notebooks without a preferred brand, we buy the ones we like and suit. In addition, we also use, for example, a notebook for extracts from books, 5 Year Diary and also mini notebooks for fun.
reMarkable: A separate category of notebooks is our reMarkable 2. We write notes in it, draw drafts of new books and blogs, read, write new books directly (when we need to give our eyes a break from the lights of the monitor) and much more. We've only been using it for a few months, but it's almost unimaginable to function without it now.
Typewriter: The next level of disconnection from the surrounding world is to write on an old typewriter. We have an Optima Elite 3 at home and it's amazing what it can do!
Cutting mat: We keep one of these on our desk to protect our desk.
Thank you for reading and being with us! We hope you've enjoyed our tips and we'd love for you to share your studio gear with us. We'll see you soon.
