“Life really does begin at forty. Up until then, you are just doing research.”
―Carl Jung
Hey there!
Life goes on, it would seem that it is only heading towards a certain end, but with the right lens it is only a mixture of constant beginnings and discoveries. Our lives are currently full of change, and it's wonderful—here are eight inspirations we'd like to share with you this week:
We love Rumi's poems. It is something that we can constantly return to and it constantly reveals something new to us. We recently came across this reading of his poem "The Guest House" by Helen Bohnam Carter and it's a blast!
The Pocket Rumi: We like many of his collections, but The Pocket Rumi is the book that travels with us to the most places. It's a selection of his (perhaps) best poems, and even though many of our favorites are missing, we still love this book.
Reading from a different barrel: Although fiction is still among our TOP, we always alternate reading (perhaps to stay sane) with non-fiction. Now we are reading and at the same time learning more about parenting together with the book by Gabor Maté Hold On to Your Kids. Lots of inventive thoughts and insight into why parents need to matter more than peers.
We must be a role model for children, but also a support, be interesting to them and be a companion on their journey. And it benefits not only the child, but also ourselves—we wrote a lot about it in our recent blog.
Exercise of the Week: Write a story with a child (your own or from your neighborhood) according to his/her imagination and try not to interfere too much with it. Listen, write down and intervene only if their idea (not yours) will benefit from it. We will be happy if you send us any of the creations!
Serie of the Week: This year marks one hundred years since the death of one of the greatest writers, Franz Kafka. The media and literary festivals are full of this information, but there are also very good television projects, among which a short six-part series by the director David Schalk definitely belongs. That was one of the best productions we've seen in a while. Go check it out.
News of the Week: Yesterday, our first book about creativity was published, which we are happy about, but at the same time we accept this step with great humility. We will look forward to your feedback or every page you read. The book was created according to us, but for you, without readers it basically does not exist...
Let’s Talk: Along with the publication of the book, we launched our Substack chat, through which we can discuss the book, but also anything that comes to your mind. We will be happy if you write to us and we can stay in touch in this way as well.
Thank you for everything! We'll see you next Friday.
